In Loving Memory

In Loving Memory of Dale Sanders

Dale K Sanders was diagnosed with high-risk t-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on April 16, 2008, at 11 years old. He went through 3 1/2 years of chemotherapy, and radiation and dealt with numerous side effects. He was off treatment for 2 years. Dale played the trumpet in the high school marching band, was a Boy Scout and became an Eagle Scout, had a sarcastic sense of humor, enjoyed hanging out with friends, and loved life. Unfortunately, on November 29, 2013, at the age of 17, Dale relapsed with the exact same type of cancer. He left that day and didn’t come home for 8 months. Dale had a bone marrow transplant on March 13, 2014, from an unrelated donor (Whom we have since met-so thankful for her!) He dealt with many side effects and eventually ended up intubated, fighting adenovirus in his lungs, on dialysis, and had blood plasmapheresis done repeatedly. Several of his organ systems suffered acute GVHD, and it was discovered he had a very rare complication called TA-TMA, along with other on-going issues. After a long time in intensive care on Day +136, Dale passed away July 26, 2014. We miss him every day. We miss his smile, his goofiness, and that he always got along with everyone. Our family has never been the same since he left us!!
